Color Analysis Frequently Asked Questions
What is SciART 12- Tone Personal Color Analysis?
The goal of a Personal Color Analysis is to identify your natural color tone and to accurately place it into one of the carefully organized twelve "seasonal" tones. These seasonal tones represent 12 distinct areas of color space and are distinguished from one another based on the three core properties of color; hue, value and chroma. Tonal placement is achieved by observing the effects created on the skin, hair and eyes by various test colors. These test colors follow a logical and systematic progression to accurately determine the tone that is most harmonious with your natural coloring. SciART Personal Color Analysis does not look to draw attention through disharmony but rather to enhance your natural beauty through mutual harmony between you and the colors you wear.
What are the benefits of personal color analysis?
The benefits of PCA are wide ranging. Personal color analysis makes shopping for clothing easier, less time consuming and allows you to build a cohesive wardrobe. Knowing your personal tone takes the guess work out of shopping for makeup and accessories in addition. Many clients find that not only does shopping become easier but they experience a gain in self-confidence, self-love and an over-all sense of well being.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Clients should come bare-faced (or prepared to remove any makeup). I also ask that my clients not wear any perfume or essential oils as they easily transfer to the drapes. To minimize simultaneous contrast, you will be draped in a neutral grey cape during the analysis so it does not matter what you wear for your appointment. You will be seated up-close to a mirror to better see the effects each test drape has on your face. This can be unnerving for some so I encourage everyone to be prepared and come ready to see and love yourself as you are. Please feel free to bring some of your favorite makeup or clothing items for swatching after the analysis.
How long does the analysis take?
A typical color analysis takes about 2 hours. Please plan for 3 hours as some can be more difficult than others and need additional time.
What are luxury drapes? Why do I need them?
Luxury drapes are an additional set of drapes consisting of ten colors in various fabrics and textures to better explore your tone. These drapes are carefully selected for tonal harmony and will help you visualize the endless possibilities available to you in your tone. They are not necessary to complete the analysis.
